ROCK ART cup and ring mark inspired silver jewellery collection

The carvings we have based our range on can be found at Bicycle rock at Weetwood Moor, Wooler.
The hollows and grooves known as 'cup and ring marks' or 'rock art' were 'pecked' (chipped and carved using harder stones) onto outcrops and boulders across Northern Britain and Ireland by Neolithic and Bronze Age people between 6000 and 3500 years ago.
There are 1500 carved stones in Northumberland and Durham alone. Rock art is found in stone circles, tombs and burial cairns, so it may well have had a religious significance, it is also thought to mark boundaries. The original meaning of the symbols maybe now lost however they do provide a unique personal link with our prehistoric ancestors.
